Julie Condon

Occupational Therapist; Certified Hand Therapist (USA); Accredited Hand Therapist; Post Grad Dip Advanced Hand Therapy

AKA: Daisy’s Mum

I grew up on a cattle station in Far North QLD and still spend as much time as possible on the family property. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be in the medical profession to help people. I graduated with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from James Cook University in 2008. I have worked at The Canberra Hospital and The Townsville Hospital before moving into private practice hand therapy. I most recently worked in private practice in Brisbane where I was fortunate enough to work alongside some fantastic hand therapists and the leaders in Hand Surgery in Australia. I moved home to be closer to my family and I really wanted to give back to my home community.

Kate Kent

Physiotherapist; Practitioner of Hand Therapy

AKA: Cookie Monster

Originally from Melbourne, Kate now considers herself a Townsville local, having graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2010. Kate has accumulated a wealth of practical knowledge through her experience working in a Private Hospital, Private Clinical work and the provision of Workplace Rehabilitation through on-site clinics and case management. Kate is devoted to the delivery of exceptional quality rehabilitation for conditions of the upper limb and is dedicated to empowering individuals through education, delivered in a warm and empathetic manner.

Laura Carter

Occupational Therapist; Practitioner of Hand Therapy

AKA: Coffee Lover

I have always been a bit of a clumsy person, breaking my arms three times before the age of two. As a result, from early on I have had to find new and adaptive ways of achieving things through injury! These experiences, combined with my passion for helping people, led me to pursue a degree in allied health. Now I get work with people in creative ways every day, helping them return to doing things they want to do and need to do in daily life.

I graduated from the University of Queensland in 2016 with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours). I worked as a practitioner of hand therapy in the Hand and Upper Limb Unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, which is where my passion for hand therapy bloomed. I was lucky to work with some incredible therapists and leading surgeons and have experience treating a range of conditions. I also love to chat just as much as I love hand therapy, so don’t be afraid to say hello if you see me floating around the clinic!

Laura Marczak

Practice Manager

AKA: Go To Girl

My parents were selfish and gave me two names: Laura Kate, but you can call me Laura. You could say I’m a serial cheese and vino lover. I’m lucky in love with my long term partner Blake and I’m a mama to a mischievous 3 yr old husky Opie. I’m not biased – he is the cutest. Ever. Blake says I have an expensive hobby of collecting tea ware and fine china. I say it’s an investment. I’ll use any excuse to have a high tea, even if it’s just for one. You’ll find me around the clinic making the best coffee in our Welcome Room!

Laura is known as our ‘Go To Girl’ because she is the one we head to when we have any problems – from chasing up medical reports and invoices to how to make the best hot chocolate! Laura’s happy, bubbly nature is addictive and her professionalism helps our clinic to run smoothly. Thank you Laura!

Tayla Smith

Therapy Assistant; Receptionist

AKA: ‘The Rock’ Johnson

Don’t ask me if my eyelashes are real because we all they’re fake. I’m just a girl standing in front of a salad asking it to be a donut. My hobbies include eating all the chocolate and complaining I’m fat. I also love adventure – you may see me hiking to the fridge in the Welcome Room for than 5 times a day (the girls don’t leave the Tim Tams there anymore for some weird reason so make sure you ask for one with your coffee). I do love going to the gym and lifting weights but I’d much rather lift a chocolate bar to my mouth. If you cant remember my name just say chocolate and I’m sure I’ll turn around 😉

Tayla has two very important roles in our clinic. She is a very welcoming receptionist and also a fine therapy assistant. Tayla is able to offer our clients assistance with their exercise program, stretches and soft tissue massage in between their appointments with the Therapists. Our clients love this service and it helps them to reach their goals much quicker and helps immensely with pain management. Go Tayla!
