What is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is very common. Some of the symptoms you could feel include:

  • Tingles, numbness or pins and needles in the thumb, index finger, middle finger and half of the ring finger

  • Pain into the muscle at the base of the thumb

  • Waking through the night with numb hands

  • Having to ‘shake’ hands out to ‘wake’ them up

  • Dropping things

  • Not being able to feel things normally with the fingertips

This happens when the median nerve gets compressed in the carpal tunnel - a tunnel at the base of your hand in your wrist.
